Smartwatch from Nissan Keeps an Eye on How You Drive

There are a lot of smartwatches on the market. Why should you buy one made by an automotive manufacturer? Nissan has created the watch to pair with its high performance Nismo vehicles. This watch won’t just sync up with your mobile devices. It will communicate directly with your automobile. You get real-time updates on your car’s performance.

The rechargeable battery lasts for more than a week, so you won’t have to worry about charging it every day. It also uses micro USB, so it is compatible with many chargers. This is the first smartwatch for drivers, but, according to Nissan, it won’t be the last.

What sort of data will the watch provide? You can see how many miles to the gallon you are getting, as well as your fastest speed and your average speed, just to name a few items. It will also connect to your social media accounts. The weather will also be available, and, obviously, the time.

The watch provides more than just convenience. It lets you know how your car is doing. It also let’s you know how you are performing as a driver. Biometric features keep track of stats like your heart rate, similar to how a racecar driver is monitored.

Your watch will even make suggestions as you drive. You’ll get a warning if weather conditions are making travel dangerous ahead. You’ll also be encouraged to reduce your speed if your heart rate spikes.

While there isn’t a release data yet, the watch is definitely in the works, and advancements for future versions are already being considered such as an ECG and an EEG to keep a closer eye on heart and brain activity.
