Desktop Computer or Laptop

Desktop Computer or Laptop? After Holidays Sales

In the months after the holidays people are often looking for great deals on technology. Some of us may be shopping for ourselves too. Is it time to replace or upgrade your computer? Then it’s time for the eternal question: Should I get a desktop computer or laptop? Let’s look at the pros and cons of each, so you can figure out which decision is right for you.

Let’s consider laptops first. This is a great choice if you are always on the go. It’s an especially good option for business persons who need to take their work with them. Don’t leave out the idea of a 2-in-1 (laptop that converts into a tablet), or just a straight up tablet (especially a Microsoft Surface 3). Laptops are also great when you want to be able to use your computer anywhere in the house instead of being confined to a desk. At this point, most laptops have the processing power of a normal desktop.

So, what is the attraction of owning a desktop computer system? You’re definitely going to get more bang for your buck. It’s also a lot easier to upgrade a PC yourself, if you decide you need a little RAM later on. This also holds true if you want to swap out the hard drive for a larger one. Desktop systems are perfect for an office, whether at work or home. They offer the best blend of performance and affordability. You can also share a desktop computer with the rest of your household, because you don’t have to worry that someone has taken it with them when you need to use it.

Ultimately, the decision will come down to what you need the computer for. Are you a serious gamer (maybe even a streamer), or do you have to edit video content for work? When your needs call for performance, especially if you need a powerful video card, a desktop computer is going to be far more affordable. Do you need (or even just want) the freedom to be able to travel with your computer? Then a laptop is right for you.

So, should you get a desktop computer or laptop? Who knows? If you find the right deals, you may not have to decide between the two. You can get one of each, and enjoy the best of both worlds.
